Getting Involved

There are many ways that parents, community members, businesses and organizations can get involved in CPS Community Learning Centers (CLC).

Opportunities abound at each CLC. Different schools need help in different ways. Check with the Resource Coordinator at your community CLC for ways to get involved.

Here are just a couple examples:

  • Decision-Making Committees: Each school has a Local School Decision Making Committee (LSDMC) that is responsible for making suggestions on the school's budget, helping to set school goals, and sometimes selecting a new principal.
  • Tutoring: By becoming a tutor and spending a small amount of time at a school each week, you can provide individual help to a student outside the traditional classroom setting, reinforcing basic concepts and taking the time to explain complex systems.
